Your experiment idea has got me wondering about how we can simulate a pasty flow, as seen around the edges of some of the ejecta blocks at Endurance. There must be some mixing going on between the sulfates in the soil and frost and dust accumulating the spaces between blocks. Other people have said the features are wind related. So it'd be good to some sort of experiment with that.
