Gotta jump to EP's defense on this one. I distinctly remember attempts being made to pick up Sojourner's signal after it went silent, and there were certainly attempts made to pick up MPL's signal. (I thought that the latter were particularly silly, given the 100% probability that MPL was a smoking hole in the permafrost..)
