Well, maybe China, Russia, India, Brazil, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, France, Germany, Indonesia.... how many do you want?

I haven't read a lot about the UN involvement in the tsunami disaster, but this was a very sudden event and required a fast response, something that requires action before total coordination. Apparently there is no international body to coordinate such efforts and maybe none is really possible given the unpredictability of such events both in timing and nature.

To deal with long-term problems like global warming, poverty, communicable diseases, terrorism, provision of human rights... essentially all nations on Earth must be engaged, with altruism being the driving force rather than economic or political power.

I'm not optimistic.
