The Left is under attack on two fronts, foreign and domestic.
If Iraq succeeds, the pillar of the Left's victory in Vietnam falls, along with the guiding principle that nothing good can ever come of military action and American "interference" overseas.
The far Left will not accept a victory in this election, or this war, no matter what happens. Should we be fortunate enough to see a democratic Iraq, they will dismiss it, placing it in the same bin of illegitimacy in which they currently place Israel. Oddly, a free Iraq will probably end up very much like Israel, with most Iraqis safe and prosperous, but with intermittent attacks on the perimeters of civilization by crazed terror groups.
Ten years from now, assuming Bowser is still posting opinions somewhere, he will be posting the same crap.
On the domestic side, Social Security, the crown jewel in whatever remains of the Great Socialist Dream of the last century, is threatened with reform. The idea of "reform" implies that the crown jewel is flawed, and we can't have that either. Notice that the current story from the Democrats is that Social Security is just fine just as it is, and doesn't need changes. None. Social Security is not in trouble, and never was. That's very important to them right now. But that's another thread, I suppose.
