A large number of sources, formal and informal, noticed this as a "white crow" situation. It would not have been noticable at all if it had not been an exception. The fact that the media is pulling a "Vietnam" on the Iraq War is the one thing that almost every military person over in Iraq who publishes on the net or writes e-mails that get published, agrees on.
