Well when you consider that the MERs could die of some catastrophic failure at any time you understand why they wouldn't want to spend too much time in one place, and get going to the next destination. They've already long out lived there expected lifetime. However I think they will probably still be useful this time next year. Just hopping some shortsighted bureaucrat will not cut off funding.
