war veterans will tell you this...

re WWII
"our American allies only stepped in to aid us right at the end of wwII, when victory was certain";

re Afghanistan...
Bush declares war on Afghanistan at a time when the Taliban was already known to be losing the overall grip of control there. Eg. A source told me that already the prescribed daily prayers were no longer enforced, and there were several other signs of the diminishing strength of the Taliban. Therefore, and ultimately, fabulous timing by BushCo to strike on Afghanistan to 'secure' the region to afford them the necessary oil pipeline. Anyhow, the devastation reaked by the US intervention in Afghanistan has been told countless times here on the bb by our more sophisticated posters Len Harrison, Santhoshi, et al.

re Iraq
similarly, I learned from Iraqi sources that by 2002/03 Saddam was in all likelyhood close to being toppled by the Iraqis themselves. It doesn't matter if you or I don't believe this to be so, BUT for the Iraqis it is so, and even if the liberation exercise was welcomed by some Iraqis, the lingering occupation by the US / allied forces certainly is not wanted by most.
