Buzz Aldrin suggested that those lasers used at observatories to bounce beams off the reflectors left by the Apollo astronauts on the Moon could be used to push Cosmos 1 around.
I think it would be great if they could get it our of Earth orbit, to serve as a preserved monument to the historic event. And if they could send it out of the Solar System, even better.
Cosmos 1 does have a commemorative disc aboard with records of past research into solar sailing, some classic SF stories on the subject, and letters to the future from mission members.
