How quickly they forget. I have a considerably freer vision of science, it's about truth, so the data should be shared, and anyone should be able to make any wild claim that they want, because the evidence will eventually speak for itself, and really, it's the responsibility of scientists to refute or verify claims, not the responsibility of the claimant. Anybody can make a claim, but if it's science, then what's the problem, it should be able to stand on it's own, and if it can't, then further work obviously has to be done.
It's really a new paradigm in science, because it's a real big universe out there, and medievalism just doesn't work any more. I believe the whole life on mars/ufo/et question are the defining problems of this new paradigm in science. I am quite happy to be at the forefront of it, and I would be perfectly happy to be demonstrated to be totally and absolutely WRONG, if that is what science has to say about my claims. I have no problem with that at all, it's all part of the learning process.
Nasa's witholding of spectroscopy is certainly not in the spirit of the new paradigm of science as truth and freedom.
