I used to be a coffee fiend... as a student at UT I would get a "Leo's crowbar" every morning at the coffee house near campus- that was seven shots of espresso on ice- kinda a poor mans crack.... I would often get another one as a nightcap... with several cups of coffee during the day...
When I moved here I had cut it down to an iced coffee with 2 shots of espresso before work- as of now it has been about a month since I last had coffee, I drink maybe a cup every month or two... I just quit cold turkey about a year ago and never had the withdrawl headaches that some claim to have... I DID fall asleep in mid sentence when talking to a co-worker my first week off the caffeine... A story he repeated in front of my boss with the addition that the only other person that he had seen fall asleep midsentence was a heroin addict... :) I REALLY appreciated THAT!!
I still drink lots of iced tea, but I rarely drink coffee...
The coffee shed you saw was the extra coffee that was set aside in case I fall off the wagon and become a coffee fiend again- without that extra supply the price of coffee would skyrocket on the island if I were to go back to my old ways!
It is known as the R.L. emergency supply and is state subsidized...
