re: Avian Flu
A disease with over 70% mortality could change the world.
The Spanish Flu of 1918 had a variable mortality rate depending on age, location, previous health, etc, but seemed to range from about 3% to as high as 20%. It killed at least 50 million people, with a world population then of about 2 billion.
Makes international terrorism look positively puny.
