Tom, the idea that Logic somehow is the art of making tortoise vs. hare arguments, or that logic could be used in an informed and non-naive manner to prove that tortoises can beat hares is aprocryphal.
What you are actually thinking of is 'Sophistry'. Look it up.
Computer Science, Chip Design and even some flavors of Physics are nothing more than applied logic. It is an absurdly practical field, nearly to a fault.
