A more interesting question about DVDs

The answer is probably no one. However this leads to a more interesting question to ponder. Currently DVD+R DL 8.5 Gbyte DVDs are too expensive to use for copying movies from pressed DVDs. Copied DVDs typically require some form of data compression resulting in data loss. When the price of DVD+R DL or Blue Ray optical disks drops below 50 cents / disc then perfect illegal copies are economically possible and the market for rental DVDs will crash. From that point on, Hollywood will make no money selling or renting out movies based upon the Content Scrambling System (CSS) DVD format.

Interesting question: When will Hollywood abandon the DVD and produce all future movies in a new strongly encrypted optical disk format (HD Blue Ray) or go to encrypted Internet distribution?
