re: Iraqi Assembly Ends Impasse by Electing Speaker
I dont think anyone could see bad in the current progress that they're making in forming a government.
See Bowser. He believes all the elected leaders in parliment are puppets
However - I still question the justification for the war ( the reasons given before, during and 'after' the war are all different ), the price paid, and if, morally, it is the job of one nation to instill it's method of rule onto another.
The main reason for war was WMDs no question but I remember and I'm sure you do that creating a democratic government in Iraq was talked about quite a bit before Saddam was attacked.
The price paid in American and Iraqi lives is large and ongoing; only time will tell if they died for something meaningful.
As for imposing a method of rule, interestingly when the U.S. tried to suggest a caucus system like we have here the Iraqis rejected it and went with a European parlimentary system. I agree though attacking another nation is difficult to justify morally. But it is also morally unjustifable for one man to instill his method of rule over an entire nation, especially when he is a merciless killer of all who oppose him.
