I tend to notice that judges that go along the Democratic party line tend to be described as noble people doing a good job in a fair manner, while judges that tend toward the conservative are mercilessly lambasted as threats to the very nature of our society who should not be allowed within five parsec of the bench. Ref: Clarence Thomas, among many others.
It's raw politics, and a party out of elected power trying to grab it back without winning elections.
