It's way past time for the MSM to reform itself. However something I find more exciting than the MSM's reform is liberalism coming under a critical spotlight.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it was widely believed that "progressive" ideology like socialism/liberalism was going to do for politics what the scientific method did for technology. Along those lines, some communists once called themselves "scientific socialists". Unfortunately the dream slowly unravelled over complications like the Soviet Empire, Joseph Stalin, Mao, etc. As communism went through its rise-and-fall, American liberalism ran out of ideas, IMHO, Lyndon Johnson was the last innovative liberal President and he left office in 1968. Since that time, the liberals have been running on inertia.
One would think that a political ideology which has been intellectually bankrupt for almost 35 years would have disappeared altogether (sort of like Free Silver or Prohibition). However there's been this enormous fig-leaf covering liberalism's inadequacy called the "MSM". Almost by definition, MSM journalists are liberals. Unfortunately for the liberals, the MSM fig leaf is falling away. Soon the liberals will be on public display in their birthday suit for the world's amusement. What are the liberals going to do? In that regard, the next 8 years should prove entertaining.
