My most recent project has me wandering into the world of professional printing. I need to get my AutoCAD paper space into Adobe Acrobat so the printers can do their job. I have the professional version of acrobat, and I've managed to do it, and so far so good.
But I'm not convinced it's in CMYK, or if it is, if I'm seeing the changes that naturally occur in the change from RGB to CMYK. How can I tell for sure? I had to make sure that the lineweights were set in layers and not just as widths in model space. Spent some time doing that after seeing what happened in the early conversions. I recently changed the preferences for dwg conversion in Acrobat to their highest print settings, but have not exported from a dwg just yet. Took twelve minutes at the standard setting. There are a whole lot of options in there. I notice I have to embed those fonts at the higher settings...is there a command in AutoCAD to get a complete list of fonts used in the drawing?
I did a four color separation just for fun, and that seemed to go okay. The printers I'm going to use has a prepress guy, but I'd like to at least appear to know what I'm talking about before I talk to him. And proofs are expensive.
Any advice, places to turn, etc?
thanks,
jms
