I was wrong. I am sometimes wrong about things and occasionally right about things.

The absence of WMD has been apparent for a long time now and you are correct it was never really about WMD for me. Even if he had had them it was not a sufficient threat to justify the war.

It was and is my opinion that the opportunity to establish a free secular government in an Arab state with huge economic potential would be a major step toward changing things for the better in that region.

I was also incorrect in believing that we knew what we were getting into and would be successful in pacifying Iraq in a year or so. We may yet succeed in what we set out to do but the cost has been too great and we probably would have been better off choosing another option.
