Yah, we also read the very speculative paper about Iapetus forming close to Saturn and encountering an archeo-ring that formed the ridge, machine gun style. What's clear is that bodies often form in one place and dynamic interactions move 'em elsewhere. We see this in our solar system and evidence in other systems as well.
