I tend to think of it more as an unscripted fire drill.
Damn good thing, too. Apparently, things need a little work. But had it been a real drill, the cost would have been about the same, only without the spontaneity that teaches where the procedural holes really are.
They were no kids, either. I'm glad they weren't arrested for getting lost, but we're rolling our eyes here, closer to where they're from. "Amos and Jakie takin' in the sights"... sheesh...
Note to pilots of small planes: Don't turn off your radios. The Feds may be trying to call you. They really don't want to send up fighters to correct your faulty sense of direction.
