Glaciers have been receding for thousands of years

I know, because I grew up in an area dotted with kettle lakes. So of course the glaciers are receding. For a long time. Did human activity accelerate this process? I doubt it, since most of the big ice sheets were gone long before the Europeans discovered the Americas.

Who's to say that all that extra GHG emissions we're sprewing out isn't being locked up in new biomass? That's what it was originally anyway, before it became "locked up" in underground oilfields. Why do we have to worry about global warming? Shouldn't we be more worried about the replacement cost of fossil fuels?

This idea reminds me of the local public transit system. They also lobby the government for hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade subway trains, to replace old buses, etc. They ALSO did not account for the replacement cost. Is mass transit really better? I'm not so sure.
