Now those of us on the further right spectrum have a choice: 1) Accept the current party recognizing that it is in fact the lesser of two evils, or: 2) attempt to get the Party to abondon the "broad tent" positions and move serious move to the right (I think that is a stupid idea as it would scare away the middle voters); 3) Abandon the Republican party entirely and join a nutcase fringe party with no chance of winning (An even stupider idea)
Buchanan tried #3, how he thought he could get an even more "centerist" fringe party to shift to the far right is anybodies guess. Bush is doing #1, despite the left's attempts to brandish him as a pawn of the "fanatic" rightwing. many on the talk radio circuit wish for #2, but that would open the door for the Democrats allowing them to take back the center...We are in power...The far left is on the ropes...Why back off and give them breathing room? Keep driving them further and further to the leftist fringe.
I'm happy (although not elated) that we appear to be sticking with #1 for the time being. Being in power has serious advantages over being out of power. Only a nutcase extreemist would see it any other way.
Keep the nutcase extreemists in charge on the "D" side of the fence.

The Dems have gone so far left, that they have envited the Republicans to take a middle stance on almost every one of those issues.
