What about other major oil importers like Japan, China and Europe?
Has this author been to India or considered moving there? India is leading the way with hundreds of millions already living in "walkable, human-scale towns; organic local economies of small farmers and tradesmen" and "strong bonds of social solidarity" like arranged marriages and the caste system. Personally, I think it sucks.
