tinfoil houses

Sacramento Code Enforcement officials have gotten involved and ordered the family to remove the metal by Monday or face a misdemeanor citation.

Interesting

I wonder what code they are violating? I suppose if its just sheet metal hanging off the house, there could be some problems with glare. Or if its not mechanically attached to the house there's the danger of it falling off and hurting somebody. The small picture provided, does make it look like the aluminum is haphazardly placed and probably not fastened.

If these people are serious about wanting to protect themselves, they just need to put up some aluminum siding, and reroof with metal roofing. Also rather than wallpaper their house with aluminum foil, they could get foil backed insulation. For the window treatments they could get roll down metal shades. It would be more expensive then haphazardly placing sheet metal, but it would have the advantage of being a complete system and nobody, not even the aliens, would no they were such kooks. I don't have a solution for them walking around in public since aluminum clothing (including hats) is outside of my expertise. :)
