Napoleon and Hitler
I read recently that Napoleon's interest in the telescope was only to be able to spy on his enemies
.. and the Nazis built rockets only to bomb London ..
- as Beethoven (who initially supported Napoleon but then dumped him when he crowned himself Emperor) said later: "even with that bastard I made a mistake")
(Beethoven was a great lover of astronomy and also of early balloon-flight experiments)
