I still have some Deutchmarks and DDR Marks

Too bad about the Germans giving up the Deutchmark. German coins were nothing to write home about but I liked the German paper money. The DDR Mark was no big loss (they reminded me of grocery store coupons). Even before the wall went down, I know some German parents would give their kids DDR Marks to use as play money. Also some of the French coins were quite pretty, e.g. the 10 Franc coin was one of my favorites. The Euro coins and paper money have a generic blandness about them that I don't like at all. The British were very wise to stay clear of that whole sorry business.
