Hi LJK

It's available via the Wayback Machine - at the Internet Archive. Just plug in "ET-Presence" and look under "Guest Articles". Mine's titled "Getting There". There's also a good one by the (late) James Hill, founder of the Cerulean Freight Forwarding Company. He assumed ETIs had to travel around in Colossii like Gary's fusion starships - I wanted to challenge that assumption and look at where ETIs might be if They're here. So I looked at what We would do after the Singularity allows minaturisation of humans.
I can't prove it but I like to think I helped inspire Ken Macleod's "Engines of Light" trilogy with some of my speculating. He's also a big fan of Chris Boyce and acknowledges him & website in those books. Chris inclined more towards the NEOs and ice moons for ETIs but I postulated the Kuiper Belt as a bigger, richer and more private realm. Ken opted for the Kuiper Belt, though with a big nod to Hoyle & Wickramasinghe's living comet theories.

So there you go.

Adam

PS
Running human level smarts on bug-sized bots has interesting heat loss side-effects. People would glow like Disney-style Fairies and flight would be pretty easy to engineer for a body so small.
