As is evidenced in this post, I've screwed up HTML so many times that I've stopped using it. Sure, when HTML is used correctly it makes the post look nice and pretty. However when it is used wrong (which is often) it makes the post incomprehensible. I have no quarrel with HTML if I'm writing to the website through a filter that reads in my plain text and coverts it to HTML. However if I have to write the HTML manually then more often than not, I'll screw it up.
