Peer review is working. It has had to move outside of the journal's mechanisms, because the journal is run by people, after all, who are fallible. But nevertheless, there it is. The crucible of public debate roils on.

True enough. The problem has been with people who refuse to listen to anyone unless their ideas are presented in peer-reviewed papers in these journals.
