I could see a run on ammo like the 'AR' round or the 'AK'round, but .22LR? Doesn't make sense unless the demand represents the "more is better" mentality. It may be like buying silver and gold when the economy takes a downturn, you can by more ounces of silver than you can of gold.

Demand should have waned after the assault weapons ban failed. I agree the demand is probably coming from "speculators"(article below) taking advantage of the price increase.
