He thinks bacterial spores can travel unprotected between solar systems yet doesn't believe thay can travel from Mars to Earth sheltered inside a meteorite.

He thinks sending a sample return mission to the ISS is safer than designing a mission to survive rentry without a parachute. Ignoring that it could miss the ISS and still enter the Earth's atmosphere. Ignoring that parachutes can fail yet demanding one.

He demands that we treat every sample from Mars as a potential andromeda strain yet demands no such measures for Earthly extremophiles with very real chances of sharing genes with pathogens.

He claims flu comes from space yet ignores real instances of flu outbreak containment based on traditional germ theory.

His gross ignorance of microbiology is demonstrated by an utter failure to understand the evolutionary pressures on microbes to use it or loose it. This pressure is extremely high on extremophiles living in energy starved environments. It is an evolutionary disadvantage to maintain structures and metabolic pathways not needed to compete with other life forms sharing the same environmental niche.
