The parallels are clear, but I'm hoping the differences, like actual Presidential support this time, are enough to keep it going - we need the Moon scopes and the HLLVs. And a proper demand market for CATS to develop.
Of course SPS would do that too, especially if Moon access got cheap enough to ship PVs from there. But there's two issues for a Lunar SPS project - industrial base and launcher choice.
