Geek Speak

I wanna hide it!

Here’s the deal, as most of you already know I scribble a bit from time to time.

I have two hard drives, one for normal usage, one for back-up. A few months ago I duplicated all my writing on the second drive, while also making CD Rom backups.

But, and this is important, my grandkids play games and surf on this box when they come over. And, as expected, they tend to gather mal-ware like little sticky candy bits do dust. Also, a couple of them like to read some of my work, don’t mind that, but they have occasionally managed to totally screw up a couple of files while doing so.

Not that big a deal, just reload from backup, then the inevitable happened. They managed to erase one that I’d not backed up for a few dozen pages, which meant that all that work just vaporized.

So, is there any way to hide the second drive, with password access, so that they can’t get into it. Short of actually unplugging the cables from the damned thing when I’m finished? Which is what I've been doing.

I’ve done some googling, but haven’t found an acceptable solution as yet. And, it really needs to be cheap, free is even better.
