Then why didn't the Bush Administration cancel the project? If the plane was in trouble by the time they took office, they should have cancelled it or fixed it. If it wasn't, then the problems began under the Bush administration, or at the very least, they failed to act on it.
Intellectual rebuttal my ass. This project has a life of its own because of the votes, companies and corporate fortunes tangled up in it. Republicans save money by letting people go hungry, uneducated, or untreated for health problems, and the savings then go into tax cuts for them. I've never seen a military boondoggle they didn't like.

As for your salary calculations, I have no idea how you do your accounting. I was making about $60K when I got layed off in California in 1991. Granted, it went a lot further back then than it would today.
I finally got a job in Charlotte County, FL over a year later for $25K a year, and 3 years later moved to S FL for about $35K, and I was a section manager with 5 employees under me! 3 years ago, when I retired, I was making $65K. It was the highest salary I ever earned in 40 years of working for the Man.
My work pension now, after a total of 20 years of service in the State system (counting my old USF college jobs, both County jobs, and State of Florida military bonus, is $1750 a MONTH. If it wasn't for my Social Security pittance (I had to retire early to qualify for it, so I got penalized for that), I'd be on food stamps.
I simply don't see where you guys get the idea that County and State employees are ripping you off. If the work we did had been subbed out to private industry it would have cost the taxpayer twice as much. Of course, I can't point to any web link to justify that statement, but I really don't care whether you believe it or not.
I don't need to prove anything to you.
