Of course, that's because it's a rip off of a design I had tried to fund back in 1999. The question of the day is: did they rip off the mathematical foundation formula to the spire that allows a structure to be stable up to a mile high?
Without it, it's a pretty spire that doesn't set a new architectural standard in skyscraper stability.
I wish them luck. Unless you can make lots of profit with your leases, and show this quick return to initial investment well in advance, no bank wants to touch such huge projects even if you have some pretty hefty venture capital support.
Just like space, the majority of folks prefer the status quo. The majority alive today would be very uncomfortable in the 40th century. Housing, shopping, driving and all the things we are familiar with will likely be gone. There is comfort in the old. Comfort in the past. The renaissance is clearly long over.
Urban renewal, transportation advances, infrastructure development all go forward very slowly. Like molasses trickling down a tree in spring.
