As much as I love the concept of a space elevator, we're stuck with currently achievable technology which does NOT include space elevators, never mind the rich terrorist target one would become. Bottom line is that the environmental lobby may have contributed to the deaths of 7 astronauts and cost this country billions. Note that I said 'may'.
