re: Reading further… note to REB

From a previous post:

REB-- When the OT talks about the world being flooded I believe it is talking about Noah's world- everything he knew- and not the whole Earth."
J-- You may be right at that.
Same as you, I am not a Biblical Scholar, I only have a casual interest and ideas in the writings that are further than the genesis.

I read Genesis all the way to the end of chapter one and the beginning of chapter two where it says: "Thus the heavens and earth were finished, and all the host of them."

There is an awful lot of information condensed in those 32 verses and it will probably take me years to decipher the scientific meaning of all of it.

I may not get to the understanding of Noah's plight, from the scientific perspective, unless I live to be as old as Noah was when the flood started.

However, I do have a feeling that some of the writings have been misinterpreted and the story of life on this planet did not begin as early as is assumed by reading the information in the Bible.
I get the impression that the life that was created in the beginning of Genesis did not dwell on this planet Earth, but somewhere else in the Universe.

Perhaps the expulsion of Adam and Eve from paradise was something akin to what is talked about in the link " http://arXiv.org/abs/physics/0508010 " that jlk pointed to 8/8/2005 12:50:43 PM on the Space board. The author of that paper seems to be saying that the DNA code can survive within only a few arranged molecules and such combinations can be spread throughout a galaxy in about 30 million years. This "code" then can influence the local environment of planets in such a way that life will develop on any planet that has the ability to combine the local material according to the code.

Kolmogorov complexity of the human genome, one comes to an unexpected
conclusion that a low complexity compressed string - analog of Noah's ark -
will enable the recovery of the totality of terrestrial life.

The Fermi paradox "Where is Everybody?" can be viewed under in the
light of such information panspermia, i.e. a Universe full of traveling life."

There are many ways to interpret the information in the Bible and that is why the original version of the writings in the Book should be preserved as closely as possible.
