Not making excuses, but:

Before I found the originating site, I found the same article posted verbatim on two other discussion-style sites, here, and here. In the latter case, the poster claims to have seen it on Yahoo News. Revisiting the same search this morning also sent me <a href="http://www.libertyforum.org/showflat.php?Number=293852472>here, which at least had the judgement to include the phrase "For Education and Discussion Only. Not for Commercial Use."

My impression is, that if Mr. Szymanski were to discover the appearance of his piece in full in yet another discussion forum, he'd be thrilled.

Regardless, I will adhere to the criterion: Everything not explicitly offered in the public domain is copyrighted, whether or not a notice appears on or with the originating document.

That seems the safest course, anyway. Thanks again for the continuing education :)
