Israel must get out of Gaza for its own sake. The Gaza settlements are indefensible. If the Jewish settlers really want to stay, they should be permitted to do so, with the understanding that no defense for their settlements will be provided by Israel. They will have to deal directly with the Palestian Authority and the Palestinian population. Israel should not bother to protect the damned fools who want to stay. Let them. Either they will make a deal with the Arabs, or they will be killed. That is their choice, and Israel need not interfere.
