There are times when an off topic post has it's place in any of the forums even if it verges on a flame.

Of course. Space/Science isn't the Vulcan Science Institute. Members of the Zone Science Institute participate out of a very unVulcan-like passion for science and spaceflight. Expressions of passion, sometimes leading to flame, are not only inevitable, but expected.

But ModBob's logic in this particular case is as impeccable as his reproof was commendably mild-mannered. It took the combination of an off-topic post (social problems on another forum aren't relevant to the HabitableZone) and dissing a Zoner who's prohibited from defending himself that elevated the post to a level requiring the mildest of rebukes.

From my point of view, let me reassure you that I consider ModBob's guidance to be such a small incident that I doubt that I'd have ever noticed until you complained, nor do I think anybody else attached any special significance to it. You're not in trouble, there'll be no fallout from the incident, and without having drawn attention to it it would have faded away with no comment from anybody.

No harm, no foul...OK?
