If you go on to "More Formatting Options", you can select display of net changes rather than absolute numbers. In that tabulation, George I's decline in employment ranks in third place at about 0.9% circa 1991. Second place honors go to Nixon, 1.0% circa 1970.
George II holds first place, 1.3% circa 2002. That would be, of course, the post 9/11 crash. The graph shows that the rate of decline tapered off fairly rapidly, in accordance with the shape of the curve after other vertiginous employment drops. But then, within a matter of months, the decline returned; and the shape shows employment stuck at low levels and recovery has been very slow. There's no other region of the graph that shows that problem.

I stand by my assertion that the Right is deeply paranoid.
