There are allergic reactions to this vaccine that have nothing to do with mercury. Severe reactions are rare, but not unknown.

People with allergies to any of its ingredients are advised against using it. This includes people with allergies to the antibiotics neomycin, streptomycin or polymixin B.

If mercury poisoning were the culprit, EVERYBODY would have problems. I don't know if there is such a thing as people with unusual susceptibility to mercury.
