I am working on another laser run and yesterday I went up around 3:30 pm to start up the laser... Around 4 o'clock I stepped outside to take in the view as the system warmed up... I looked around and and took in the view, and then looked up to see how bad the clouds were since high cirrus hampered our observations on the summit the previous night... not too bad- mostly blue sky with a few bands of cirrus clouds...

Then I looked at the moon, it was in a cloudless area of the sky, I admired it for a second and then noticed something odd- about 4 moon diameters to the 'left' of the moon was a bright white dot- it wasnt a plane, since it wasn't moving noticeably... I was surprised and stared at it trying to make sense of the very unusual...As I watched the spot it slowly moved away from the moon- (Unlike most of those that report UFO sightings, I am apparently unable to gauge distance and size with no data or points of reference) It was either close and moving slowly, or it was very far and moving with incredible speed- or somewhere in between... It was not a point, but had definite angular size... again it could be anywhere from small to gargantuan depending on its distance... It then made a leisurely change of course and started drifting 'down' towards the horizon moving to and fro as it did so... I watched as it drifted towards a band of cirrus to see if I could tell if it was above the cloud or below it... but since it was the same color as the thin cloud it was impossible to tell...

I am sorry if it disappoints some people, but it did NOT make any incredible movements that can only be explained by alien technology, it did NOT come down to abduct me and erase my memory, it did not disturb any wheat fields, or mutilate any cattle- instead it drifted in a very balloon like manner as balloons often do...

I cannot PROVE it, but I am certain I just saw my first weather balloon... They are released daily here... It was an interesting event to watch, the other explanation is that it was drunk aliens on a joyride... but somehow I doubt it....
