Amazing how optimism about a nation's future despite real difficulties can flame up in a liberal when the subject switches from Iraq to the Palestinians. ;)
For a good time, plug "Iraq" into your post, and recall that the looting in Iraq after the liberation was deemed a sure sign of failure by some on this board.
Sorry, just found it a bit funny.
The Palestinian people are not going to have nearly as much to do with the future of Gaza as the terrorist leaders that are going to be running the joint. In that way, the situation is almost reversed from Iraq, where the future will depend on the behavior of the citizens more than what the government does.
Hamas has a long and bloody history of dealing with Palestinians who are willing to entertain the thought of Israel having a right to exist.
