It's symptomatic of a greater problem.
It's the capitalists are evil grave-robbers schtick. When you reinforce such a concept, even in jest, it sticks with those who haven't yet accumulated enough information to see how necessary capitalism is to preserving a high quality of life and freedom. Instead they turn to the perceived opposites of capitalism: socialism and the left.
So it's like making an off-color joke. For some it's funny and they can see it in context and have a laugh at a stereotype. Others use such humor to shape their worldview.
An innocent, unshaped mind is a terrible thing to corrupt.
