To achieve some clarity of concepts here, try and set in your mind the differences between the economic construct of capitalism, and the structural political concept of corporatism.
And when you do this look at the consequences of the federal deregulation of the airline industry in 1978.
The point to recognized is that capitalism works very well even when restrained by government to achieve defined national objectives. Capitalism unbridled and totally laissez faire, laissez passer is canabalistic and there is no example of such a system working at any time--past or present.
On the other hand, capitalism flouishing under governmental constraints and even obstacles is the source of both a dynamic and constantly re-adjusting politics and innovative entreprenuerial activity. Hardly a definition of socialism.
