I'm a conservative who always though change was a good thing.
However, In my version of Compasionate Conservatism I think the free market and rugged individualists such as yourself should drive the creativity and changes...Not some "do gooders" in Washington DC who has motives for wanting change that really have nothing to do with your well being or mine.
Oil prices will go up and go down. That's to be expected. If they go to high, and if the supply of oil suddenly becomes unrelieable because of the unpredictable price swings, then alternatives will replace oil in the transportation equation.
Just give it time.
