Hi Vahe
One concern I have with your study is with respect to how under-determined organisms are by their DNA above a certain level of complexity. For many organisms epigenetic factors play a major role in their development and they won't just develop from a generic cell. These factors are as yet poorly understood and will probably add to the scale of data transfer required.
Another possibility for intelligent life is "mind transfer" - sufficiently detailed brain scans allowing a personality to be transmitted and emulated in a suitable artificial body. What do you think of the prospects for that? I believe it will be the preferred means of interstellar travel once an interstellar network is set-up by robotic precursors.
