Tough Subject...

For me at least.

I'm hoping someone with better understanding can correct any gross mistakes I make but I'll try to explain why I think my web page should help.

Make sure the radio button next to Earth is selected.
Enter the following values in the corresponding fields:

Initial Orbit: (ISS)
Altitiude: 400
Inclination: 51

Final Orbit: (Moon)
Altitude: 384400
Inclination: 28

Then click "Minimize".

The bottom right text box shows 3927 m/s total delta v required to get from the ISS orbit (400 km @ 51 deg inclination) to the approximate *orbit* of the moon (384400 km @ 28 deg inclination).

Compare that to an initial orbit at 28 degrees:

Initial Orbit: (KSC inclination)
Altitude: 400
Inclination: 28

Final Orbit: (Moon)
Altitide: 384400
Inclination: 28

(click Minimize)

dvt = 3909 m/s

But that's just to get to the orbit of the moon...

Throw a real Moon (and Sun, and Jupiter, and inclination for a Lunar orbit, and this, that and 50(?) other things I don't have a clue about) into the picture with my smudge of understanding and I'm not sure I helped at all...
