Ahmadinejad is quickly becoming a net liability within Iran's complex political hierarchy. Remember that Khamenei holds supreme power, and he has begun to rue his support for Ahmadinejad. Rafsanjani (who should have been put in Ahmadinejad's spot by a more rational electorate), has been appointed by Khamenei to check the impulses of Ahmadinejad (who will eventually hang himself it seems). The intrigue in Iran is bottomless. It makes sense that the game of Chess was invented by Persians.
